What is a Service Dog? Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities
Who qualifies for a service dog? Any person who had a disability that can be mitigated by a service dog
Can you “certify" my dog as a service dog? No. We can certify the dog has been trained but that is all. There is no legal Service dog registration in the United States.
Can any dog be a service dog? Kind of.. The majority of dogs do not have the drive, want, or personality to be a service dog.
Can any breed of dog be a service dog? Kind of.. Not all dogs have the drive to be a service dog. Some will be more successful then other.
Can you help me pick out a dog to train as a service dog? Yes we can do an evaluation, we can not guarantee that the dog will make it all the way through training. We also do not recommend evaluating a dog in a shelter environment as most dogs will act differently within a home setting.
Do you work with any other animals than dogs? No we do not, under the ADA you can also train a miniature horse but that is not something we can do.
My dog is aggressive / has a bite history can they still be a service dog? No. Under the ADA a service dog can not be aggressive.
How long will it take to train my dog to be a fully trained service dog? It depends, anywhere between 6 months to 2 years depending on how much training the dog has when we start.
